Five writing habits I am starting this new year

Last year seemed to be the Year Of The Writing for me, (I know the capital letters are grammatically incorrect but…just…stare at them for a moment) because there was a lot of decisions I made concerning writing and deciding to pursue development rather than “being a good writer.”

So in this post, I want to share some habits I will be continuing on in 2022 to better stretch my writing skills.

1. Writing novels

This year I am going to finish a NaNoWriMo project (and print out an old one that I’ve decided to scrap) and also write two more chaptered books. I also want to finish up some edits on one book and also finish up another book for my kids at work. Believe me when I tell you…I am so stoked about these goals!

2. Weekly blogging

I still will continue making sure that I’m blogging regularly. I will work better on time management and planning ahead. Batching content during the weekends also sounds like a good idea, especially when I need to do school and also work.

3. writing everyday

I’ve decided that I will work on some type of writing for at least 10 minutes. Most days, I go over 10 minutes (yay!) and that’s ok with me. My goal is just getting words on the page.

Editing and all that jazz will come another day.

4. journaling

I want to get better at writing about my emotions and how I’m feeling. Plus, this would be a good way to release a lot of things I’m going through an better getting to know myself, so I will make time for this.

5. printing out my finished works (and unfinished work) and keeping them in my own book library

This is one I am most excited about. I have one story that I haven’t finished but I am done with that I will print out for memories. I can’t wait to print out the final copies of my books I’m writing now!

I hope 2022 is full of a lot of new habits for you all as well! This year, I hope you reach all of your goals, whether they be writing like mine, or other things.

Happy new year!
